Donna Newcomb, FAHP
Senior Associate

Return to Team CRI

Donna brings more than 38 years of service to non profits through leadership positions in institutional advancement in health care, higher education and the arts. Her roles have ranged from a sole practitioner in a small shop, to a front line fund raiser in a large shop, to a senior leadership role for a major medical center.

Donna began her development career at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital of Medford, where she served in increasingly responsible positions for over 28 years taking the hospital through two successful capital campaigns, the establishment of nationally recognized comprehensive development program, and the creation of a corporate office of philanthropy for Hallmark Health, the merged entity of Lawrence Memorial, and three other hospitals. As a member of senior management, she worked closely with the President to identify and orient members of the Corporation and the Board of Trustees. Following her many years in health care, Donna accepted a position with Suffolk University where she mobilized a trustee committee to complete a capital campaign for the Law School and subsequently re-organized the university-wide advancement office. She gained her experience in the arts at the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, Massachusetts, where she repositioned the leadership annual giving program, achieving record breaking results in dollars raised and number of donors, and revitalized the planned giving program. Most recently, she returned to health care philanthropy, serving Lahey Clinic Medical Center as the director of campaign planning. There she structured the Clinic’s first formal patient-referral program, collaborated with Clinic leaders to identify the funding priorities for the next campaign and established the Clinic’s first donor recognition program for physicians and colleagues.

Over the years Donna has broadened her perspective in the philanthropic marketplace, as a consultant, assisting a variety of clients in program assessment, staff recruitment and the determination of campaign feasibility.

Donna has been an active participant in many development associations, including the New England Association for Healthcare Philanthropy, Association for Health Care Philanthropy, Women in Development and the Association of Fundraising Professionals.  She is a past president of the New England Association, has served on the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Chapter of AFP, and is a past chair of the AHP Institute for Fund Raising Executive at the University of Wisconsin at Madison. She has authored several articles and received numerous awards from professional and civic organizations. She attained certified status in AFP and the status of Fellow, the highest and most prestigious educational status in AHP.
