Nelson Checkoway is a senior consultant with Copley Raff and a principal partner with Rising Tide Direct LLC. He is responsible for overseeing the firms’ direct mail and multi-channel digital marketing services. Nelson has been helping non-profit organizations raise funds for three decades, spending 3 years as Manager of Grants and Development for Connecticut Legal Services, and 10 years as a fundraising officer and Marketing Director of Environmental Defense Fund, before becoming a consultant in 1995.

Cutting-edge creative work has won Nelson multiple industry awards, including the Direct Mail Fundraisers Association Package of the Year and a number of prestigious MAXI awards from the Direct Marketing Association of Washington. Past and present clients include the: National Audubon Society, Capital Area Food Bank, American Farmland Trust, Environmental Defense Fund, Guiding Eyes for the Blind, National Wildlife Federation and the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
